Update: 29/09/12

It's been a little while since I've posted anything, or done much with the channel lately. Don't worry I've not abandoned it entirely. Just decided to have a little break, since running a you tube channel can be quite stressful at times. Here's what's coming up in the next few weeks.

Sega Classics Collection

This is the next video in the works. I've already mentioned of my intentions of doing this in previous posts, well I'm actually going through the process now (playing it, writing a review etc) of turning it in to a real video. For those who don't know what it is, here's what the blurb on the back of the box says.
"GAMING THAT DEFINED A GENERATION RETURNS!"

"A compilation of unforgettable gaming history, that lets you experience the thrill and excitement of Sega titles that changed the world of video games! Previously only available on Sega Mega Drive, Arcade or Sega Master System. Now you can enjoy these classics with enhanced graphics and sound for a superior gameplay experience. Get ready to relive some of the best moments in gaming history again and again!"

. Oh boy! Doesn't that sound amazing! GEE GOLLYS I CANT WAIT!!!... No really... yeah I've already spent some time with this, before writing this blog, the sarcasm is a good indication of where this one is headed.

Gaming legends: The Prince of Persia

I'm proud to present a new series of videos "Gaming legends" In this series we'll be taking a look at some of gamings greatest series. To qualify for this it must have started in at least the 1990's, and still be going today, and above all be very popular indeed. It also helps if I like the series as a whole, to be bothered to spend so much time on it. Later episodes of this will likely include games such as Tomb Raider, Metal Gear, Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Sonic (possibly... only because some of my subscribers are huge sega fans), and who knows what else. This will not include throw away games though, such as sports games, and games that have had a new instalment every year since 1982. They have to be highly regarded by gamers and critics alike to qualify for this. Of course most of these large franchises that have been going forever, they do have bad games in the series, even the first one, Prince of Persia is no exception. These of course will be brought up and ripped in to during the videos.

This actually developed from me wanting to review sands of time, and the whole idea got bigger and bigger, to what it now is.  While I'll try to include most games in each series. I, (of course) can only actually talk about games I have access to. Ones I can either emulate, or I have the actual console that it was brought out on. This will exclude mainly handheld games, since I've never been in to handheld gaming, and games released on obscure consoles nobody bought, and are difficult to emulate. But, I'll be the judge of what I consider great, unlike some reviewers who just talk about something they've either never played, or not played for like 20 years. My creative process is quite different. I want a fresh idea of what the game is like in my head before I talk about it, Also all footage of games, is what I've created. So I won't be making any videos with the best games missing. If that's the case it simply won't get made.

That's really all the news I have for now. I'm going to work on some videos now. Thanks for reading

Update 05/07/2012

Removal/Editing of copyrighted video's

As I've already quickly touched upon on the channel feed, I've taken the decision to remove copyrighted material, since we're trying to establish ourselves as a gaming channel on you tube. This decision hasn't come lightly. Many of those videos took over a week to complete, and are some of our most viewed videos. Video's I could save, such as golvellius, and the Race Driver Grid video, I had to edit when the copyright crap first came up, Have just had the intro/outro chopped off. However, Assassins Creed, and Road Rash 64, have had to be removed entirely (or at least made private). I feel this will be beneficial in the end for the channel, as if the day ever came that you tube offer us partnership, we won't have that going against us. I know that's a very long way off, and a lot of work needs to be done before achieving this, especially since it's so incredibly hard to even get noticed by the community, with so many other far more established channels out there.

Driver San Francisco

This review is now coming along nicely since the last post, I have many hours of game play footage, and the scripts first draft is almost complete. It's definitely on track to be up by the weekend, so stay posted for this

Onion Play's

I've not released one of these for a few weeks. I removed the GTA 4 one. It was more of a test of my PVR, and also, you could barely hear my voice, as I didn't play it back before I uploaded it, I may be doing one later this week, of what, though. I'm not sure yet. I may redo the GTA one.

Grumpy Old Man's Guide To Gaming In A Recession.

Having been discussing a lot of things with the new reviewer, I mentioned in a previous post, I'm pleased to announce a new segment. I'm sure many of us are feeling the credit crunch/recession, and had a major impact, perhaps you've taken less hours, or like me, out of work entirely, and can't afford to go throwing all your money at the latest release, in the hopes it's good and will help kill some of that spare time. Well fear not, there's another way. How these are going to work, is he's going to be comparing budget/cheap games. We discussed,a lot of details, but we'll be looking at games that cost no more than £5, or essentially 2 pints of beer.. A lot of these will be older titles, for PS1, PS2. Xbox. Gamecube, etc. Of course, anything we can find on the newer systems, for that price he'll also cover. In each video, he'll be comparing 3 similar games and deciding which is the best, and if you should buy any of them, or if you'd get far more from 2 pints of beer.

Top 20 PS1 Games

The script for this is now complete, I however have one or two tiny issues, mostly relating to acquiring all the games for game play footage. I obviously no longer own most of the games on this countdown, I wish I did they're all excellent games. But we're operating on a very tiny budget, preferably no budget at all if we can help it. My first thought was to turn to an emulator. But PS1 certain games just don't work on emulators, or are a massive hassle to get working. While some games only cost a few pounds, others are pretty expensive, I would like to go in to specifics, but that will be giving too much away. So this video may have to be put back further than I would have liked. I also don't like using emulators if I can avoid it, as they tend to show the game in a better light than it really is. I've always been very adamant, I'll never make a game look better than it does. Some people will add effects, and such when editing to make the game look more colourful or whatever. I'm not here to sell the game, I'm here to criticize if it sucks, or praise it if its good. I may just have to  acquire each game on the countdown slowly

Sega Classics Collection

This may be the next review, it may be the one after it, who knows just yet. But I almost creamed my self when I saw this, and at the price I saw it at,I immediately bought it with out delay. If someone would have told me about this, I would have given them a blank cheque and told them to write any amount down because it will be worth it! It has Some of my favourite Sega games re-imagined, on my second favourite video game console, I loved this before I ever played it... err.. yeah.... This is why channels like us are here.

That's all for now. I'll make another one of these when I have something to share

Update Next upcoming video's/ future plans

Well it's been about a week since I last posted one of these, a lot as happened since then, and a lot of new plans have been made regarding the channel.

First up. The buffy the vampire slayer review is finished, and can be found here once its completed uploading http://youtu.be/JXsiyBHZH40. It's in quite a different style to my usual reviews, it's also a little longer. But I believe this is probably one of, if not the best video I've made so far. All future reviews (until I find a better style I'm comfortable with) will be in this style.

My new PVR as obviously finally arrived, and has been used to record the buffy footage. So this means a lot more console games, infact mostly console games. As the new videos are uploaded, I may start to take the older ones down.

Secondly, a new reviewer as joined our ranks. He'll simply be known as "angry old man". His first video, comparison of playstation era first person shooters, should be up in a couple of weeks, since we have to acquire the games first. he may do a gameplay video of something before then though.

Ok future video plans from me now.

Driver San Francisco

This is a game I've been wanting to review for absolutely ages. So therefore will be the next major video. I was a huge fan of the driver series on the playstation. But totally lost interest, after Driv3r, since it was such a huge disappointment. So what do I think of this one? Find out soon!

Top 20 Playstation Games

This is a project that's grown since the last post. It's gone from top 10, to top 20. Because, I found my self simply leaving too many games out that I wanted to talk about. I've already finalised the countdown, and I've started to write the script. It may still take a few weeks to get around to actually turning what, at the moment is a word document in to a fully fledged video though. I keep going back to it in little chunks, and playing some more of the games. At the moment I have quite a few projects on my mind, that I'd rather do first.

Other ideas. In the next few months I also intend to purchase a camcorder, and start to show my self, and present it more like a show. This will also allow me to do other game related videos, such as hardware videos, and maybe certain tutorials such as, how to start a game channel your self, and document the work that also goes in to making some of these videos. I also may start renting games soon, to review. This will allow me to broaden my scope a lot, of what types of games I'm able to review. For example I'd love to review The London 2012 Olympics game, Golden Axe Rider, game of thrones, other abominations. But I don't feel like actually spending real money paying for them, It will also allow me to review a lot more newer, decent games, that I normally wouldn't have the capital to go out buy.
This is going to be put on hold for a little while. It's a project I feel strongly about. I also feel I'm improving my style and ability to edit and produce videos with every one I make. So for that reason, I'd like to get more practice using the tools at my disposal, messing with video formats, and also more importantly getting better at voice overs. As I've already stated on other sources, this series isn't a simple review, and is going to be a much more in depth project on the whole franchise. It's still very much alive, I just don't think the time is right just yet.

I may also start writing some articles on here if I have time. Such as first impressions, of games I've played and anything else I feel appropriate. But right now, the you tube channel is my biggest priority, and this is more a way to keep people who are interested informed of what's going on behind the scenes.

So that's all the news I have right now for you
